Express Entry from Tunisia to Canada
Canada's main points-based immigration system, and the most common direct route for Tunisian applicants who don't yet have Canadian work experience. Here's exactly how the Federal Skilled Worker stream works, how your CRS score is calculated, and what trips up applications filed from Tunisia.
- Express Entry is a points-based system (CRS score) that manages three programs: Federal Skilled Worker (FSW), Federal Skilled Trades (FST), and Canadian Experience Class (CEC). Most Tunisians applying from home qualify through FSW.
- Minimum FSW eligibility: 67 out of 100 points on the FSW grid (language, education, experience, age, arranged employment, adaptability) separate from your CRS score.
- No job offer required for FSW eligibility and since March 25, 2025, job offers no longer add CRS points in any case.
- Atout francophone : les résultats TEF Canada / TCF Canada sont acceptés, et les rondes d'invitations axées sur le français ont des seuils SCG (CRS) généralement plus bas que les rondes générales.
- ECA is mandatory a Tunisian degree must be assessed by WES or ICAS before you can create a profile.
- Timeline: profile-to-ITA depends on your CRS score and current draw cutoffs; post-ITA processing is IRCC's published 6-month standard.
What is Express Entry and how does it work from Tunisia?
Express Entry is not itself an immigration program it's the online system IRCC uses to manage applications for three federal economic programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSW), the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FST), and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). Candidates create a profile, are ranked by Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, and the highest-ranked candidates receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in regular draws. For Tunisian applicants without prior Canadian work experience, FSW is almost always the relevant entry point it's the only one of the three that doesn't require time already spent working in Canada.
How is the 67-point FSW grid different from your CRS score?
Before your CRS score matters at all, you first need 67 out of 100 points on the FSW selection grid to be eligible to enter the pool. This is a pass/fail eligibility check, not the ranking score used in draws.
How is your CRS score calculated?
Once you're eligible for FSW, your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score determines whether you receive an ITA in a given draw. Recent draws have varied by category general draws typically cut off higher than category-based draws for specific occupations or French language ability.
Core factors
Age, education, language, and Canadian work experience (if any) for single applicants.
Skill transferability
Combinations like education + language, or foreign work experience + language.
Provincial nomination
A PNP nomination adds 600 points virtually guaranteeing an ITA in the next draw.
Additional points
French language ability, sibling in Canada, Canadian post-secondary credential, or a valid job offer.
