Why Toronto is the world's most immigrant-friendly city.
More than half of Toronto's population was born outside Canada. This isn't a statistic -
it's the daily experience of living here. Grocery stores stocking every country's comfort food. Temples,
mosques, churches, and gurudwaras on every block. Neighbourhoods built and shaped entirely by newcomers.
Beyond culture, Toronto offers Canada's deepest job market -
especially in tech, finance, and healthcare - and direct access to OINP streams that can turn an Express Entry
profile into a nomination within months. GetNorthPath is based in Toronto and handles more Toronto-bound
applications than any other Canadian city.

Frequently Asked Questions
Toronto immigration questions, answered.
Toronto is the most popular destination for immigrants in Canada and for good reason - it
offers the deepest job market, the most established immigrant communities, world-class universities, and
direct access to OINP streams. However, it is also the most expensive city. Immigrants targeting tech,
finance, healthcare, or professional services typically find Toronto's higher salaries offset the higher
cost of living. Our consultants help you weigh whether Toronto or another Ontario city (Mississauga,
Brampton, Kitchener-Waterloo) is the right fit for your situation.
No - OINP nominations are for Ontario as a province, not specifically Toronto. You commit
to living and working in Ontario, which includes any city in the province. Many immigrants settle in Ottawa
and later move to Mississauga, Brampton, or other GTA cities. The OINP's Human Capital Priorities stream
selects from the federal Express Entry pool and doesn't require you to be in Toronto or even in Canada at
the time of selection.
Toronto is the easiest Canadian city to find work as a skilled immigrant due to its sheer
size and diversity. Canadian experience is valued, but Toronto employers - especially in tech, finance, and
healthcare - regularly hire internationally trained professionals. Organizations like ACCES Employment and
Magnet provide bridging programs. Having a job offer before arriving also strengthens your OINP application
and can accelerate your pathway to PR.
The largest South Asian communities in the GTA are in Brampton (Punjabi community
especially), Mississauga, Scarborough, and parts of North York. Brampton is home to the largest Sikh
community in Canada and has South Asian grocery stores, temples, and cultural organizations on virtually
every block. Mississauga is more expensive but offers stronger proximity to corporate hubs. Many Indian
immigrants start in Brampton and later move to downtown Toronto as their careers progress.
GetNorthPath specializes in the immigration application process - not job placement.
However, our consultants can advise on which OINP streams require a job offer vs. those that don't (like
Masters Graduate, PhD Graduate, and Human Capital Priorities). We can also advise on how to structure your
job offer letter to meet OINP's specific requirements - a common area where applications have issues.
Timeline depends significantly on which application type you're pursuing. Study Permit
applicants from India typically wait 8–16 weeks after submitting. Express Entry PR applicants receive an ITA
and then submit their full application - federal processing takes 6–12 months. OINP nomination adds 3–6
months before the federal stage. A Visitor Visa (to visit Toronto) takes 3–20 weeks. GetNorthPath
front-loads all document work so your application is submitted as quickly as possible with no delays from
your side.
Other Ontario Cities
Considering another Ontario city instead?
Toronto isn't the only option. Ontario has several other cities with strong job markets,
lower costs of living, and established immigrant communities.
