Cookie Policy
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your browser or device when you visit. They are widely used to make websites function correctly, to remember your preferences between sessions, and to provide information about how visitors interact with a site. Similar technologies include:
- Local storage and session storage — browser-based storage used to hold temporary state (e.g. your progress through a multi-step form) that does not persist after you close the tab or browser.
- Pixel tags (web beacons) — small invisible images or scripts that record whether a page or email was opened and may set cookies in the process.
- Device fingerprinting — we do not currently use device fingerprinting techniques.
2. Categories of Cookies We Use
We organize the cookies we set or permit into four categories:
-
Strictly necessary (always active)
These cookies are essential for getnorthpath.com to function. Without them, core features such as secure sign-in, session management, and load balancing cannot operate. They do not collect marketing data and cannot be disabled through our consent banner. -
Functional / preference
These cookies remember choices you make to improve your experience — for example, your preferred language, region, or whether you have dismissed a notice. Disabling them may mean certain preferences are not remembered between visits. -
Analytics and performance (optional)
We use analytics tools to understand how visitors use the site — which pages are most visited, where users drop off, and how long they stay. This data is used in aggregate to improve the platform and is not linked to identifiable individuals. We obtain your consent before enabling analytics cookies. -
Marketing and advertising (optional)
If we run paid campaigns in the future, third-party advertising networks may set cookies to measure campaign performance and frequency cap. We do not currently deploy marketing cookies without your consent, and we will update this Policy if our practices change.
3. Specific Cookies and Technologies
The table below lists the principal cookies and similar technologies in use at the time of this Policy’s last update. Third-party providers may add or change cookies on their own cadence; refer to their notices for the most current list.
- Session cookie (gnp_sess) — Strictly necessary. Maintains your authenticated session while you are logged in. Expires at end of browser session.
- CSRF token (gnp_csrf) — Strictly necessary. Protects form submissions from cross-site request forgery attacks. Expires at end of browser session.
- Preference cookie (gnp_pref) — Functional. Stores UI preferences such as notification dismissals. 90-day expiry.
- Consent record (gnp_consent) — Strictly necessary. Records the choices you made in our consent banner so we do not show it again unnecessarily. 365-day expiry.
- Google Analytics (_ga, _ga_*) — Analytics (optional). Used by Google Analytics to distinguish users and track page view data in aggregate. Up to 2-year expiry. Set only with your consent.
4. Google Analytics
Where you consent to analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics to collect aggregated data about how visitors use getnorthpath.com. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect information including your IP address (anonymized), browser type, pages visited, and time on page. We have enabled IP anonymization and do not pass personally identifiable information to Google Analytics. Google’s use of data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
5. Third-Party Embedded Services
Certain pages on getnorthpath.com embed tools operated by third parties, including:
- Appointment scheduling — our consultation booking tool may set functional cookies to manage time-zone preferences and session state.
- Payment processing — our payment provider sets strictly necessary cookies to facilitate secure checkout and fraud prevention.
- Video content — if we embed instructional videos (e.g. via YouTube), the video provider may set cookies when the video player loads. We use privacy-enhanced embed modes where available.
Each of these providers operates under their own cookie and privacy policies. We do not control the cookies they set directly, but we limit which third-party embeds appear on the site to minimize unnecessary data collection.
6. Managing Your Cookie Preferences
You have several ways to control cookies:
- Consent banner — when you first visit getnorthpath.com, we display a consent banner that lets you accept all cookies, accept only strictly necessary cookies, or manage individual categories. You can revisit your choices at any time by clicking “Cookie Settings” in the footer.
- Browser settings — most modern browsers allow you to view, block, or delete cookies through their privacy or security settings. Common paths: Chrome → Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies; Firefox → Settings → Privacy & Security; Safari → Preferences → Privacy. Note that blocking all cookies, including strictly necessary ones, may prevent parts of the site from working correctly.
- Opt-out tools — for analytics, you can use the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on described above. For general interest-based advertising, you may opt out via the Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada.
7. Do Not Track
Some browsers include a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal. There is currently no industry-wide standard for responding to DNT signals, and we do not alter our data practices based on this signal. Our consent banner is the supported mechanism for managing your preferences on getnorthpath.com.
8. Cookies and Children
Our Service is not directed to individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly set tracking or analytics cookies for users identified as minors.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy when our integrated tools change, when we add new features, or in response to regulatory guidance. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Where changes are material, we will provide additional notice on the website or by email.
