If you're a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, you can sponsor certain Senegalese family members for permanent residence — most commonly a spouse or common-law/conjugal partner. Parent and grandparent sponsorship (PGP) is currently paused for new applications, but the Super Visa remains a genuinely useful alternative for extended family visits.

Under Ministerial Instructions (MI89), IRCC paused new Parents and Grandparents Program sponsorship intake effective January 1, 2026. If you already submitted a PGP application before the pause, it continues processing normally. If you haven't, new PGP applications cannot currently be submitted.

Canadian citizens and permanent residents can sponsor a spouse, common-law partner, or conjugal partner. Applications can be processed inland (if the Senegalese partner is already in Canada with valid status) or outland (processed while the partner remains in Senegal, through the Dakar visa office).
