The immigration department conducted this latest draw on September 15. This marks the 55th Express Entry draw held in 2026. So far this year, Canada has issued a total of 128,732 invitations to apply.

Applicants in Canada pursuing permanent residence through Express Entry have an opportunity to apply for a Bridging Open Work Permit. If an existing work permit expires before the Bridging Open Work Permit application is finalized, these individuals will benefit from maintained status. This allows them to continue working under the same conditions as their current work permit, provided they remain in Canada. Eligible family members of the applicant may also apply for a Bridging Open Work Permit.
Those who received an invitation to apply will now proceed with their permanent residence application. Applicants in Canada may apply for a Bridging Open Work Permit, and if their existing work permit expires, they may benefit from maintained status while their application is finalized. Canada continues its practice of inviting skilled workers to apply for permanent residence through the Express Entry system, with this recent draw focusing on Canadian Experience Class candidates.
